The RTR is proudly owned and operated by Elaine.
All shows hosted by the Riata Thoroughbred Registry are held at Phoenician Stud.
The mission of the RTR is to provide one of the most popular breeds in
Riata, the Thoroughbred, a place to compete against each other and to
earn a reputation for itself against its peers. The registry's main functions
include monthly shows for sporting thoroughbreds and annual or bi-annual
gradings, and RTR accepts both pure and half thoroughbreds.
The RTR holds monthly shows to enable the Thoroughbreds in Riata to test
themselves against others of the same breed. Points will be tabulated
throughout the year to determine year end awards.
Inspections are held either annually or bi-annually, depending on the amount of interest provided. This is an excellent opportunity for owners to grade their horses for entry into the studbook.
Owned by Elaine since mid-2005, the RTR has exchanged hands a slight bit
due to time restrictions, which ultimately led it to inactiveness. However,
since the reclamation and rejuvination of the RTR in December 2007, many
new plans have been made to make the RTR bigger, better, and caters more
to the Thoroughbred population and the owners. New features that have
been implemented since are a bi-monthlyl newsletter featuring a horse
and owner, RTR news, contestsetc. Also, the plans for a classified studbook
for both breeding mares and stallions are underway, in the hopes that
the Thoroughbred community will have easy and convinient acces to the
TB breeding aspect of Riata. The RTR also recently became the governing
body of steeplechasing in Riata, seeing the opening of the RTR Steeplechasing
Spciety, a sub-division of the main association.
