Welcome to Steeplechasing
Welcome to the Steeplechasing Club, one of the three divisions of the Riata Turf Club. Evolved from it's predecessor, the RTR: Steeplechase Society, the mission of the club is to promote not only the Thoroughbred breed, but also the centuries old sport of steeplechasing. While considered a "division", the club functions as an association in it's own right, assisting in governing the sport of Steeplechasing in Riata. It exists to promote, advance, and regulate this classic sport in Riata. The RSC maintains the small atmosphere of the Irish chases, with the focus being on the horses and the thrill, not the money or politics. Our race card is based off famous American and British races, such as Cheltenham and the Grand National Challenge. The RSC hosts two racemeets per months, and encourages members to host other meets as well. Consistent purses are offered for each racemeet, no matter how large or small the participation body is. As the sport has grown, so has the racecard and purse money on offer, and it will continue to adapt to the advancement of this sport within Riata. We also host many important RL chases, such as the Breeders' Cup Grand National Steeplechase and the Cheltenham Gold Cup. If you're interested in spending a day with friends, horses, and nerve-fraying fences, please join us for a chase.
The RSC has been actively promoting steeplechasing through multiple auctions and active racemeets since 2009, and the future remains bright. 2010 looks set to be an even bigger season, with more big races, larger purses on offer, and the implemention of the RSC Breeding Program. Don't miss out on the excitement we have in store!
If you have any questions, suggestions, or input regarding the club, please feel free to email me at riata_sc@hotmail.com. All opinions of members are greatly valued and welcome, and I wish to cater to you all to the best of my abilities.
